His father’s name was Charles, who was a Nigerian Football player. Its mother’s name is Veronica, who is a former high jumper. His father died on September, 2017.

Giannis Antetokounmpo began his professional basketball career in Greece with Filathlitikos, a second-division team. He made his debut for the team in 2011 and helped them earn promotion to the first division the following year. In 2012, he signed with another Greek team, the Bucks’ sister team EFA Olympiacos and he played there for one year before he was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA in 2013.
In his first season with the Bucks, Antetokounmpo primarily came off the bench, but as the season progressed, he began to see more playing time and finished the year with an average of 6.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
