His father’s name was Charles, who was a Nigerian Football player. Its mother’s name is Veronica, who is a former high jumper. His father died on September, 2017.
Its parents were from different Nigerian ethnic groups. The father was from “Yoruba”, and the mother from “Igbo”.

Giannis Antetokounmpo began his professional basketball career in Greece with Filathlitikos, a second-division team. He made his debut for the team in 2011 and helped them earn promotion to the first division the following year. In 2012, he signed with another Greek team, the Bucks’ sister team EFA Olympiacos and he played there for one year before he was drafted by the Milwaukee Bucks of the NBA in 2013.
In his first season with the Bucks, Antetokounmpo primarily came off the bench, but as the season progressed, he began to see more playing time and finished the year with an average of 6.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game.
In the following seasons, he saw his role and statistics steadily increase, until he established himself as one of the best players in the league. In 2017-18, he led
the Bucks in scoring, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks. And the following year in 2018-2019 he led the team to their first playoff series win in 18 years.
He won his first MVP award in the 2018-2019 season and he led his team to the Eastern Conference finals where they lost to the Toronto Raptors in six games. He is considered to be one of the best players in the league and continues to lead the Milwaukee Bucks as the team captain.
In 2021 he signed a Supermax contract extension with Bucks, which means he will be staying with the team at least till 2025-26 season.
